The following letter of understanding between the Vestry and Search Committee communicates the objectives and responsibilities of the Search Committee in searching for and recruiting a Rector for Parish of the Good Shepherd, the Episcopal Church in Waban, Massachusetts. 

 

The Vestry empowers the Search Committee in its ministry to help identify the next Rector for the parish. The scope of this ministry includes:

●          Determining a timeline for the search;

●          Engaging the parish in a time of self-study based on the CAT results;

●          Developing a parish profile which briefly describes the parish, to be approved by the Bishop’s Office;

●          Completing the community portfolio and forwarding them to the Regional Canon;

●          Developing and implementing a process for screening candidates;

●          Developing a uniform system of rating and ranking candidates;

●          Communicating the progress of the search committee regularly to the parish through announcements, bulletins and newsletter articles;

●          Communicating with candidates promptly their status in the process;

●          Recommending one (1) final candidate to the vestry for election and call;

●          Maintaining the utmost care and confidentiality around all information related to      candidates; only the Search Committee is entrusted with this information and responsibility until final candidates are introduced to the Vestry

●     Continuing, even after the search process, to maintain confidentiality around candidates and the search process in order to support the new Rector in their new role.
