Coventry (Covie) Edwards-Pitt
Senior Warden

Covie has been a member of Good Shepherd since early 2022 when she and her family attended their first Celtic Eucharist. Her family has loved Good Shepherd ever since, singing as volunteer members in choir (soprano, alto, and bass!), participating in the 2022 Confirmation Class Pilgrimage to the UK, and attending biweekly Sunday evening Do Love service sessions with current and former Confirmands and their families. Covie is the Founder and Director of Ballentine Partners' Center for Family Well-Being and has authored the firm's Healthy, Wealthy & Wise 3-book collection, centered on reconciling financial resources with the relationships and values that matter most. She also founded the shop Sew & Bloom in Cambridge, MA and can often be found in her garden admiring the bees and making peace with the bunnies.

Chris Sole
Junior Warden

Chris has attended Good Shepherd since 2000.  He has taught confirmands, sings in the choir and has served four times on the vestry as Jr. Warden.
 
Chris runs a company serving the needs of internet advertising companies for data analytics.  He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering (U. Birmingham UK), and in Business from Stanford University.   
 
Chris lives in Newton Highlands.

Gail Murphy
Treasurer

Gail has been a parishioner at Good Shepherd for over 30 years, joining when her son Matthew was born. Matthew and daughter Caitlin were both baptized and confirmed at Good Shepherd.
Currently Gail is the Treasurer and also serves as usher, lector and intercessor. She and her husband Harry have also taught Sunday School. Gail is retired from a career in tax, finance and auditing. She enjoys serving other parishes in meeting their audit commitments.

Matthew Groves
Clerk

Matthew began attending Good Shepherd in November of 2023 and has served on the Vestry for one year. He and his wife, Elise, have lived in Boston for the past 15 years, after moving from Oregon where they both grew up, and have a three-year-old son, Michael.  Matthew is an Eagle Scout, a software engineering manager at Accenture, where he develops mobile applications for global brands, and also plays bass trombone with the Brookline Symphony Orchestra, where he serves on the Players’ Committee.

Maritza Ebling
Vestry Member

Maritza grew up in Waban, attending PGS with her family. She reconnected with the parish when she married Matt Hillard - Fr. Jay officiated the ceremony. Maritza lives in the South End with her husband and two young daughters, Lusiné and Ani, and is thrilled to be part of the community once again.

Ken Rothwell
Vestry Member

Ken Rothwell has been a member of Good Shepherd for over thirty years.  He and his wife Pam raised their two children in Newton.
He is a professor of Classics at the University of Massachusetts Boston.

Nick Nesgos
Vestry Member

Nick has been a member of Good Shepherd since 1968, when his family relocated to Waban. He has served in various capacities at the parish, including as a member of the 2016 Search Committee, on the Vestry, and on the Finance Committee.

 

Nick is a partner at Arent, Fox, Shiff, and heads the Complex Litigation practice for their Boston office. He studied at Connecticut College (BA), the London School of Economics, and Cornell University (JD).

 

Nick is married to Maggie, whom he married at Parish of the Good Shepherd. They have two daughters, Phoebe and Anna.

Allie Baker
Vestry Member

Allie Baker, her husband, and their three children have been attending Good Shepherd since 2021. Previously, she was a volunteer soprano in the St. James' Episcopal Church choir in New York City. Allie is a child, adolescent and perinatal psychiatrist, serving on the faculty at MGH and HMS, with a private practice in Wellesley. She earned her medical degree from the University of Virginia and completed her residency and fellowship training at NewYork-Presbyterian, the teaching hospital of Columbia and Cornell.

Lewis (Lew) Cantor
Vestry Member

My name is Lewis (Lew) Cantor. I was born in the Bronx, NY, but lived most of my life in Salinas, CA. My wife Sally and I have been married for 52 years. We have two daughters: Hilary, who lives in Denver, CO, and Alison Corkery, who lives in Waban. We also have two grandchildren: Catie, a freshman at Colby College, and Brendan, a junior at Newton South. 

 

I have been a member of Good Shepherd for approximately five years, but attended church here for another 10 years as we visited our children and grandchildren. When in California I was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Salinas, California and served on their vestry for several years. 

 

I attended Rutgers for my undergraduate degree and Albert Einstein College of Medicine in NY for my medical degree. I did a pediatric residency and chief residency at the U. Cal San Francisco and practiced Pediatrics in Salinas from 1975 until 2019. I was the president of Coastal Kids Home Care, a nonprofit which provides home care for children with chronic diseases for 15 years.

John Chase
Vestry Member

John has attended Good Shepherd since the beginning of 2025. As a child, he attended St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, RI, where his grandmother served on the vestry and played piano for the Sunday school. He and his wife Cindy were married at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in RI, and live in Newton Highlands.

Professionally, John is a mechanical engineer and holds an MBA. He is currently working in clean energy, having also worked in robotics and finance.

Mary Dawley
Vestry Member

Mary Dawley grew up in East Dennis and attended UMass Amherst. After college, she moved to the Boston area. She is a long-time Newton resident and has lived in Newton since college. Mary is a corporate art consultant who provides decorative art to senior living communities and multi-family housing communities. She is also a design consultant for a stone fabricator and works with clients on their kitchens and bathrooms.

Mary has two teenage boys ages 17 and 13.  They are all avid skiers and have a place in Waterville Valley where they are part of the ski school there.  Mary’s boys attend Catholic Memorial.  Their faith is an integral part of their education.  The boys attend camp Northwoods in Wolfeboro New Hampshire where they spend much of their summer.

Kim Nauen

Vestry Member

Kim Nauen and her husband Jim have been  members of PGS since 2003.  They have two daughters, Emily 20 who is a Junior at Bucknell University and Alison, 24 who teaches 10th grade English at the Walnut HIll School in Natick. Kim holds two business degrees: a B.S. in Management from Fairfield University and an MBA from Boston College. Kim has held positions at Andersen Consulting as a Management Consultant and at Putnam Investments as VP and HR Partner in the Investment Division.  After starting a family she formed her own HE Consulting practice and provided HR consulting services to a number of small to mid size firms around Boston from 2005-2021.  In 2021 Kim accepted a position with one of her clients SECLOCK, a national hardware distributor,  where she is COO.  Kim has served on the vestry for three terms previously, and is looking forward to serving again.  In her spare time, Kim enjoys traveling, entertaining and mahjong.

James Oldfield
Vestry Member

James first attended Good Shepherd in 2024 and has served as a subdeacon, as a member of the Christian Education Committee, and by chairing a discernment committee. Originally from England – though blessed with much American family, James met his wife, Caredwen, while a student and settled in Brighton. Their daughter, Gwendolen, was born in 2023. James teaches philosophy at Boston College and at Bridgewater State University, used to play bass guitar in a local brass ensemble, and was once a member of Boston Fencing Club.
